South Air starts domestic flights to major Pakistani cities
The airline operated eight flights on its inaugural day, marking the return of commercial air services to Bahawalpur and Turbat after a long gap. South Air has resumed flights between Karachi and Islamabad, as well as Karachi and Bahawalpur, restoring Bahawalpur’s direct air link with major cities after nearly three years.
The airline also operated four flights from Karachi to Turbat and Quetta as part of its initial schedule, expanding travel options for domestic passengers. South Air is using modern ATR aircraft to provide safe, reliable and efficient air services across its domestic network.
The launch is expected to improve connectivity between major cities and remote regions while offering passengers greater convenience and more travel options within Pakistan. Last year, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline Flyadeal also launched flight operations to Pakistan, further strengthening air connectivity between the two countries.

According to aviation officials, Flyadeal’s inaugural flight arrived at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport from Saudi Arabia, where the aircraft received a traditional water salute to mark the occasion.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) granted Flyadeal permission to operate in Pakistan in November 2024 after approving the airline’s request to launch services. Flyadeal currently operates flights between Riyadh and Karachi and plans to expand its network by introducing additional services connecting Karachi with Riyadh and Jeddah.
Aviation experts believe the arrival of new airlines and the expansion of domestic routes will boost competition, improve travel convenience and provide passengers with more affordable flight options.
