(Web Desk): Heavy snowfall in KP’s Tirah Valley has stalled a security-ordered evacuation, leaving families stranded as the deadline expires.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s remote Tirah Valley is facing a growing humanitarian challenge as the deadline for residents to evacuate the area expires on Friday, while heavy snowfall has made movement nearly impossible.

According to local reports on Thursday, Pakistan’s security forces had earlier directed tribesmen to immediately vacate the valley due to security concerns. Residents were asked to leave the area before the set deadline and move to safer locations.

However, locals say the evacuation order cannot be implemented under current conditions. Severe winter weather has stranded many families inside the Tirah Valley, cutting off road access and halting movement.

On Thursday, light rainfall in several parts of Khyber district, including Bara and Jamrud, further intensified the cold. The situation worsened when heavy snowfall began in Tirah Valley, rapidly lowering temperatures and covering key routes.

The snowfall has created serious difficulties for residents as well as displaced families who were already in the process of migrating. Locals confirmed that snowfall across the Khyber district has badly disrupted evacuation efforts, despite repeated warnings from security forces.

People trapped in the valley reported that roads have been completely blocked, vehicles are unable to move, and basic supplies are running low. Many families are now sheltering indoors, facing extreme cold with limited food, fuel, and medical resources.

Residents have urged authorities to consider the weather conditions and provide relief or extend the evacuation deadline until routes are cleared and safe passage is restored.
