The Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has launched a digitalization initiative through the Sindh Integrated Environmental Monitoring and Management Information System (SIEMMIS) to modernize environmental governance across the province. The initiative was introduced during a three-day technology exhibition at the Expo Center Karachi, aimed at bringing key environmental services onto a centralized digital platform.

Licenses, NOCs And Complaints Go Online

Under the new system, users will be able to submit and renew applications for environmental licenses, process NOCs, register industrial establishments, monitor compliance, and file and track complaints online.

Sindh Secretary Environment Faisal Ahmed Uqaili said the move marks SEPA's transition toward digital governance, aimed at making approvals, registrations, inspections and record management faster, more transparent and more effective. SIEMMIS will also support GIS-based mapping of industrial units, real-time environmental data monitoring, and instant access to digital documents and historical records.

AI Chatbot To Guide Citizens

SEPA is also introducing an AI-based multilingual chatbot to assist citizens in both English and Urdu, allowing applicants to track their application and complaint status and receive timely updates. Uqaili said the government aims to leverage technology to build a more effective environmental management system supporting a clean, green and healthy Sindh, while helping institutions improve monitoring through automated workflows and a centralized database.
