Lahore traffic police have decided to check the criminal record of all holders of LTV, HTV and PSV licenses, following the discovery of a bus driver with an extensive criminal history operating on the city's roads. Authorities are now collecting details of drivers from all commercial bus and heavy traffic terminals after the driver in question was found to have 27 cases registered against him, including robbery, theft and fatal accidents.

Details Being Collected From Bus Terminals

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Abdul Raheem Shirazi, said driver details were being obtained from bus terminals across the city, confirming that the flagged driver faced 27 cases related to robbery, theft and deadly road accidents.

He said the records of drivers operating commercial vehicles, heavy vehicles and buses across Lahore would be thoroughly reviewed as part of the drive.

License Cancellations And Arrests Planned

According to the CTO's office, license verification is being carried out alongside Character Roll (CRO) checks for commercial vehicle drivers. Data on drivers with criminal records will be updated, and those found to have such records will have their licenses cancelled, with arrests to follow where necessary. Officials said the initiative aims to ensure that individuals with serious criminal backgrounds are not permitted to operate public transport vehicles, reducing risks to passenger and public safety across the city.
