Punjab launches easier online support for persons with disabilities
The Government of Punjab has introduced another major facilitation measure for persons with disabilities and special needs by moving applications for assistive devices online.
Under the new initiative, applicants can now request wheelchairs, hearing aids and other support equipment from home through the Maryam Ko Batain. The move is aimed at reducing the need for repeated visits to government offices and making the process faster and more accessible.
The official app is available here: Maryam Ko Batain app
According to the announced procedure, applicants first need to open the app and select the “Assistive Devices and Wheelchair” option. They will then be asked to enter personal information including name, national identity card number and mobile phone details.
In the next step, applicants must provide their full address and choose their district and city. After that, they can select the required assistive device or wheelchair from the available list.
Authorities said users will also need to upload supporting documents, including a disability certificate and photograph. Once all details are completed, applicants can review the information and submit the request digitally.
Officials say the new online service is part of broader efforts to improve access to public services through technology and make welfare support more convenient for vulnerable citizens.
Policy observers believe the initiative could save time, reduce travel costs and make government assistance easier to access for families across Punjab, especially those living in remote areas.
