MDCAT 2026 set for August 16 after board exams end
Pakistan’s medical entry test, the MDCAT, will be held on August 16, 2026, after education authorities decided the date by taking all academic and logistical factors into account.
The announcement was made by the health minister, who said the decision followed consultation over the nationwide examination calendar. Officials noted that board examinations across the country, including those in Azad Kashmir, will conclude on July 20.
Authorities said the schedule also considered students appearing in Cambridge Assessment International Education examinations, which are also expected to end by the same date. Setting the medical entry test nearly four weeks later is intended to provide students with additional preparation time after completing their annual exams.
The MDCAT is one of the most important academic examinations in Pakistan, taken each year by thousands of students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges across the country. Because of its importance, the timing of the exam often attracts close attention from students, parents and educational institutions.
Officials said the decision to hold the examination on Sunday, August 16, was made after reviewing administrative requirements, examination arrangements and the academic calendar in different regions.
Education observers say the announcement may provide clarity to students who had been waiting for a final date. With the schedule now confirmed, many candidates are expected to begin focused preparation in the coming weeks.
Authorities are expected to release further details later regarding registration, admit cards, examination centres and formal guidelines for candidates.
