Punjab launches Apni Chhat Mehfooz Chhat Scheme for home repairs
The Apni Chhat Mehfooz Chhat Scheme was introduced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to help deserving families improve their living conditions.
The initiative was launched in memory of the children who lost their lives in the Kahna roof collapse incident and aims to make homes safer across Punjab.
Loan amount under Punjab interest-free loan
Under the Punjab interest-free loan programme, eligible applicants can receive up to Rs500,000 to repair, strengthen, or secure damaged roofs.
The Punjab interest-free loan also offers up to Rs1,000,000 for people who want to build an additional room or construct a second floor. The government says these loans will help families improve their homes without paying any interest.
Monthly installments made easier
The Punjab government has reduced the monthly repayment amount to make the scheme more affordable.
Earlier, beneficiaries had to pay Rs14,000 every month. Under the revised plan, installments now range from Rs4,700 to Rs9,300, depending on the approved loan amount.
Officials believe the lower installments will allow more families to benefit from the Punjab housing scheme without facing financial pressure.
How to apply for the Punjab housing scheme
Residents can apply for the Punjab housing scheme through several official channels.
Applications can be submitted online through the official portal. People can also visit their Deputy Commissioner (DC) office, Assistant Commissioner (AC) office, or the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) to complete the process.
The government has advised applicants to use only official channels while applying for the Apni Chhat Mehfooz Chhat Scheme.
