Punjab faces gas supply disruptions amid force majeure
SNGPL states that the ongoing supply disruption, caused by factors beyond its control, has significantly affected its ability to fulfill obligations under the Gas Supply Agreement signed on October 29, 2016, including the delivery of RLNG to power plants and compliance with agreed gas quality standards.
The utility phrases, the previously declared force majeure remains in effect under Article 13 of the agreement, relieving it of its contractual responsibilities for as long as the disruption continues.
SNGPL further added that it is working closely with PSO to minimize the impact on RLNG supplies, while cautioning that the situation remains highly uncertain.

The company said it would provide further updates, including any revisions to cargo schedules beyond August 3, as developments unfold.
According to officials, the interruption in LNG deliveries is likely to continue until at least August 3.
They proceeded to warn that Upper Punjab and the Northern Areas could face electricity shortages and increased loadshedding.
They added that the Independent System and Market Operator may have to switch some power plants to diesel-fired generation, a move that would raise electricity production costs and could ultimately leave consumers facing either longer outages or higher electricity prices.
