US-Iran talks back in focus as Pakistan and Qatar push mediation efforts
The United States has reportedly continued technical-level discussions with Iran, signaling that diplomatic channels remain open despite renewed tensions between the two countries.
According to foreign media reports, US officials said Washington remains committed to finding solutions to outstanding issues with Tehran through dialogue and diplomacy. The development comes at a time when relations between the two sides have once again become strained.
US media outlets have claimed that Pakistan and Qatar are actively working behind the scenes to bring Iran and the United States back to the negotiating table. Both countries have previously played important roles in facilitating communication between rival nations in the region.
The reports emerged after a fresh escalation between Washington and Tehran. Over the past two days, the US military reportedly carried out strikes against targets in Iran. In response, Iran launched retaliatory actions and targeted American military installations in the region, further raising concerns about regional stability.
Despite the military exchanges, diplomatic efforts appear to be continuing. Analysts say the involvement of regional mediators could help prevent a wider conflict and create space for future negotiations.
Earlier, after meeting the NATO chief in Ankara, Turkish capital, US President Donald Trump made strong remarks about Iran. Speaking to reporters, Trump said he did not want to make a deal with Iran and suggested that previous ceasefire arrangements had effectively ended.
Trump also argued that if Iran possessed nuclear weapons, it would use them, adding that he did not want to waste time pursuing negotiations with Tehran.
There has been no immediate official response from Iranian authorities regarding the latest reports on mediation efforts and technical talks.
