Pakistan plans new high-security passport with advanced features

The move is aimed at reducing forgery and improving the protection of Pakistani passports.

Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa and his team visited the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation (PSPC) in Karachi. PSPC Managing Director Arshad Mehmood Bhatti briefed the delegation about passport printing facilities, production work and modern security equipment.

Advanced security features

Officials reviewed technologies that could be added to the new passport to make it harder to copy or misuse. The proposed features are expected to strengthen the security of Pakistani travel documents.

The meeting also focused on the design and printing requirements of the new passport booklet. Officials discussed ways to improve security through modern materials and printing methods.

Polycarbonate data page

Another major part of the plan is the use of advanced security features in the passport’s polycarbonate data page or card. Such technology can provide stronger protection for important personal information.

Officials also discussed a detailed roadmap for introducing the new passport in phases. The plan is expected to guide the future rollout and launch of the updated document.
