The federal government has announced another reduction in Pakistan petrol price, bringing some relief to consumers for the next three days.

According to the latest update from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs0.58 per litre, from Rs342.60 to Rs342.02 per litre.

The price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has also been cut by Rs0.17 per litre, bringing it down from Rs371.61 to Rs371.44 per litre.

Fuel prices continue to change

The latest reduction follows another cut announced on Thursday. Petrol was reduced by Rs0.50 per litre to Rs342.60, while diesel became cheaper by Rs0.19 to Rs371.61 per litre.

The government has introduced frequent fuel price revisions, making petrol and diesel rates subject to regular changes.

Despite the latest cuts, fuel prices remain significantly higher than their levels before the daily pricing system was introduced.

Petrol, diesel rates rise sharply

Since the beginning of daily fuel price revisions, petrol has increased by Rs30.72 per litre, while diesel has recorded a much larger increase of Rs41.93 per litre.

The latest figures show that fuel prices have moved sharply during the period, with diesel briefly crossing Rs395 per litre earlier in August.

The fresh reduction could provide limited relief to motorists, transport operators and businesses, although its impact on overall transportation and consumer costs may remain modest.
