Pakistan marks Eid ul Adha with prayers for peace amid Middle East tensions
Special prayers were offered for Iran, Palestine and stability in the region. Large Eid congregations were held at mosques and Eidgahs across the country. Worshippers embraced one another after prayers and exchanged warm Eid greetings.
Families later performed animal sacrifices and shared meat with relatives and poor people. Traditional Eid meals and family gatherings continued throughout the day in different cities.
Special prayers were also offered for Pakistan’s security and economic stability. People prayed for Muslims facing wars, violence and humanitarian crises in different parts of the world.
Religious scholars highlighted the true spirit of sacrifice, compassion and unity in their Eid sermons. They urged people to support the poor and remember underprivileged families during the three-day religious festival.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Field Marshal Asim Munir also extended Eid ul Adha greetings to the nation and the Muslim Ummah. Their messages focused on faith, sacrifice, compassion and unity during rising tensions in the Middle East.

PM Shehbaz said Eid ul Adha reflects the timeless lessons of faith, sacrifice and selflessness shown by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). He urged citizens to share Eid happiness with needy people and strengthen brotherhood and humanity.
The prime minister also expressed solidarity with oppressed Muslims in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He prayed for peace, harmony and prosperity for Muslims facing difficult conditions.
President Zardari said Eid ul Adha teaches obedience to Allah, patience and sincerity. He stressed that real success comes through piety, service to humanity and empathy rather than wealth or power.
Quoting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he said, “The most beloved of people to Allah is the one who is most beneficial to people,” adding, “He is not a complete believer who eats his fill while his neighbour beside him goes hungry.”
The president said sacrifice remains incomplete if deprived people, widows, labourers, orphans and disabled citizens are ignored. He also called for national unity, tolerance, dialogue, rule of law and public service.
Separately, the military leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir, extended Eid greetings to the nation. The military’s media wing said the armed forces prayed for lasting peace, prosperity and national unity.
According to the ISPR, the armed forces reaffirmed their commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement also described Eid ul Adha as a symbol of sacrifice, faith and unity.
The military also paid tribute to the families of martyrs for their sacrifices and dedication. It said their courage continued to strengthen the foundations of the country.
This year’s Eid ul Adha carried a stronger emotional message because of the worsening Middle East tensions. Many people appeared deeply concerned about Muslim unity, peace and the growing humanitarian crisis in the region.
