ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The government has introduced a fertilizer ban under new security rules, restricting access to several fertilizers, chemicals and powders.

New restrictions announced

The fertilizer ban Pakistan comes after the Ministry of Interior added several fertilizers, chemicals and powders to the prohibited list.

The government said the new security rules were introduced following a secret report that raised concerns about the possible misuse of some listed materials in illegal explosive activities.

The chemical restrictions Pakistan has introduced will require closer monitoring of the storage, handling and access to the listed products.

Biometric verification made mandatory

Under the new security rules, NADRA biometric verification will be mandatory for people seeking access to the restricted materials.

The requirement is intended to help authorities identify and monitor individuals dealing with sensitive substances.

The fertilizer ban Pakistan also requires authorities to keep a close watch on the storage and movement of the listed products.

Which materials are restricted?

The prohibited list includes urea, ammonium nitrate, calcium ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and magnesium nitrate.

It also includes silver, sodium nitrate, potassium chloride, aluminum powder, diammonium phosphate and sodium chloride.

These products have legitimate agricultural and industrial uses, but authorities have raised concerns about their possible misuse.

The chemical restrictions Pakistan has announced are aimed at preventing restricted substances from reaching unauthorized individuals.

Strict action over missing materials

Authorities have also been instructed to monitor the storage and handling of the restricted materials.

If any listed item is lost or stolen, the concerned organization must inform the authorities within 24 hours.

This requirement is another part of the new security rules and is intended to prevent missing materials from being diverted for illegal activities.

Organizations handling these products will therefore need to maintain proper records and follow the reporting requirements.

Criminal action for illegal use

The notification states that illegal storage or use of the listed fertilizers, acids and powders will be treated as a criminal offense.

Authorities can take action against individuals or organizations that fail to follow the restrictions.

The chemical restrictions Pakistan has introduced are mainly focused on public safety and preventing the misuse of potentially dangerous substances.

What businesses need to know

The fertilizer ban Pakistan could also require legitimate users to follow additional checks before accessing certain materials.
