Naqvi issues fresh warning to PTI ahead of Islamabad march

Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Naqvi said the government would not allow anyone to violate the law or directions issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The warning comes as PTI prepares for a nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad on September 27. The party has said the protest is linked to demands concerning its founder, Imran Khan.

Naqvi urged PTI leaders to reconsider the decision and avoid a situation that could create further tension in the country. He said the government would not leave any gaps in its preparations if the party decided to move ahead with the protest.

Government refers to IHC orders

The interior minister said that if PTI proceeded with a sit-in or march in Islamabad, the government would implement the Islamabad High Court’s orders.

The IHC has ruled that political parties and their leaders cannot occupy public roads, highways, interchanges, toll plazas or government buildings in a way that blocks public movement or access to educational and medical facilities.

The court also directed provincial governments to ensure that public funds, official vehicles, machinery and other government resources are not used to facilitate a march, procession or rally heading towards Islamabad.

The court further said public servants could not be forced to participate in political rallies or marches.

PTI urged to reconsider protest plans

Naqvi said PTI still had time to review its decision and adopt a different approach.

He said the government did not want the country to remain shut for several days because of political activity. The minister also claimed that much of PTI’s leadership was not in favour of proceeding with the march.

He urged the party not to put its workers at risk and said political statements or threats would not change the government’s position. Naqvi has previously said the government would take action against anyone who violated the IHC ruling or attempted to create unrest in Islamabad.

Dispute over Imran Khan’s medical treatment

Naqvi also responded to questions about PTI’s demands regarding Imran Khan’s medical treatment.

He said that if the demand was for a medical check-up, the examination had already taken place. According to the minister, doctors could provide further treatment to Imran Khan in accordance with the law.

He said the government would follow legal procedures regarding any medical treatment required by the PTI founder. The issue has remained one of the subjects discussed by PTI leaders while the party prepares for its planned protest.

Government preparing for September 27 march

The September 27 protest has led authorities to increase security preparations in Islamabad and surrounding areas. Officials have been reviewing arrangements to deal with possible crowds, traffic disruptions and law-and-order concerns.

The government has maintained that public movement and access to important facilities must not be blocked during any protest. The IHC order has also placed responsibility on provincial governments to ensure that state resources are not used to support the planned march.

Naqvi discusses new provinces

During the press conference, Naqvi also spoke about the demand for creating new provinces in the country. He said the movement for new provinces was gaining momentum and that public participation in the issue was increasing.

Naqvi expressed hope that new provinces could eventually be created if there was public support. The issue has previously been discussed by political leaders in the context of public opinion and national consensus.

Fuel prices were also discussed

Naqvi also commented on changes in fuel prices. He said movements in petrol prices were linked to changes in the international market.

Fuel prices in Pakistan are regularly reviewed in line with changes in global oil prices and other relevant factors. The minister’s comments came as political tensions remained focused on the upcoming PTI protest.

Security concerns remain ahead of protest

The government has repeatedly said it will take steps to maintain law and order during the planned march. Naqvi has warned that attempts to enter Islamabad in violation of court directions could lead to legal action.

The IHC has also made clear that citizens’ movement and access to public services should not be obstructed. At the same time, PTI has continued preparations for its September 27 protest and has said the march will be held for its political demands.
