Murree Traffic Police launch major crackdown on unlicensed drivers across city
The campaign is being carried out on the instructions of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir. It is being supervised by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi as part of efforts to improve road safety.
Officials said the Murree Traffic Police have already issued hundreds of challans to motorcyclists and other motorists found driving without valid licenses.
Legal proceedings are also being initiated against repeat offenders and those involved in serious traffic violations.
To strengthen enforcement, Murree Traffic Police have established daily checkpoints on major roads as well as key entry and exit points across the hill station.
Officers are checking drivers’ documents and identifying unlicensed drivers during routine inspections.
A traffic police spokesperson reminded motorists that driving without a valid license is a punishable offence under Pakistan’s traffic laws.
Drivers have been advised to carry their original driving licenses whenever they travel to avoid penalties.

Authorities said the campaign is part of a wider Punjab Traffic Police initiative aimed at promoting responsible driving, reducing traffic violations and preventing road accidents caused by unlicensed drivers and inexperienced motorists.
CTO Munir Ahmed Hashmi urged both local residents and tourists to fully cooperate with the campaign. He stressed that everyone should follow traffic rules and avoid driving any vehicle or motorcycle without a valid license.
Officials added that road safety can only be improved when motorists obey traffic laws and ensure they are properly licensed before getting behind the wheel.
