Digital driving licence service launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The new facility enables citizens to obtain a legally valid digital driving licence within seconds by entering their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number and driving licence number in the Rabta app.
Chief Traffic Officer Peshawar Dr Zahid Ullah said the digital licence will be accepted during traffic inspections. He said motorists will no longer need to carry a physical driving licence, as they can present the digital version on their mobile phones whenever required.
According to officials, the initiative is part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Traffic Police’s digital governance policy, which aims to provide faster, easier and more modern public services. Officials said the move is expected to reduce paperwork, minimise unnecessary visits to government offices and make public services more convenient for citizens.

Earlier, the Peshawar Traffic Police introduced an online driving licence verification service for people travelling abroad to help facilitate visa-related requirements. The service has already benefited thousands of applicants.
Dr Zahid Ullah said the use of modern technology would improve transparency, reduce unnecessary delays and save citizens valuable time. He added that more public services would gradually be shifted to digital platforms, enabling people to access them from home with greater ease.
The launch of the digital driving licence service marks another step towards modernising public services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and improving the overall experience for motorists across the province.
