Police chase ends near Rohri

According to NHMP Central Region spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, motorway police became suspicious after noticing a speeding vehicle on the motorway.

Officials said officers signalled the driver to stop at three different locations, but the suspects allegedly ignored the instructions and continued driving. Motorway Police launched a pursuit and successfully intercepted the vehicle near Rohri before taking both occupants into custody.

Huge cache of weapons recovered

Rifles, pistols, and thousands of rounds of ammunition seized

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered 14 submachine gun (SMG) rifles, one shotgun, and 23 pistols. The pistols included 19 .30 bore pistols and four 9mm pistols.

Police also recovered more than 18,000 rounds of ammunition, 89 extra magazines, four telescopic sights, and five mobile phones from the vehicle. Officials described the recovery as a major seizure during a motorway operation.

Two suspects arrested

Police identified the arrested suspects as Ubaidullah, a resident of Peshawar, and Abdullah, a resident of Kohat.

According to the NHMP spokesperson, the suspects were allegedly transporting the weapons consignment from Peshawar to interior Sindh. Authorities have not disclosed the intended destination or the purpose of the shipment. Further investigations are underway to determine whether other individuals were involved.

Case handed over to Sukkur Police

The arrested suspects, along with the seized weapons and ammunition, have been handed over to the Sukkur Police for further legal action and investigation.

Investigators are expected to examine the source of the weapons, the planned delivery route, and any possible links to organised criminal networks. Officials said additional arrests could be made if the investigation uncovers more suspects connected to the case.

Crackdown on illegal weapons

Law enforcement agencies continue to conduct operations against the illegal transportation of weapons across the country. Officials said such operations are aimed at preventing illegal arms from reaching criminal groups and strengthening public safety.

Authorities urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious vehicles or activities to help prevent illegal arms trafficking.
