32 terrorists killed as security forces target militant networks: ISPR

The operations were carried out over the past 24 hours as security forces continued efforts against militant groups and their facilitators.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations targeted Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the military as “Fitna al Khwarij”, and “Fitna al Hindustan” networks.

The military said the operations were part of Pakistan’s continuing counterterrorism campaign. It added that security forces were working to prevent militants from carrying out attacks and disturbing peace.

24 terrorists killed during KP operation

In Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces carried out several intelligence-based operations during the night between July 28 and 29.

ISPR said the troops targeted multiple militant locations after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists.

During the operations, 24 terrorists affiliated with the TTP were killed, according to the military’s statement.

The clashes involved several militant positions, with security forces conducting coordinated actions against the identified targets.

The operation is significant because Khyber district lies along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan and has previously faced militant activity.

Security forces have continued operations in the area to disrupt militant networks and prevent attacks on civilians and security personnel.

The military said further sanitisation operations were underway after the main engagements. Such operations are intended to search the area and ensure that no remaining militants or threats are left behind.

Eight terrorists killed in Balochistan

Separately, security forces conducted an operation in Nushki district of Balochistan, where eight terrorists were killed.

According to ISPR, the operation followed an intense exchange of fire between security personnel and militants.

The military identified those killed as members of the network it calls “Fitna al Hindustan”.

Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices from the sites, according to ISPR.

The recovered material was subsequently destroyed, the military said.

Nushki is located in western Balochistan and is strategically important because of its proximity to Pakistan’s border areas.

The operation therefore comes as security agencies continue efforts to strengthen security in parts of Balochistan where militant groups have remained active.

PM Shehbaz praises security forces

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces following the reported deaths of the 32 terrorists.

The prime minister specifically praised the personnel involved in the Khyber and Nushki operations, according to the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing.

Shehbaz Sharif also praised the professional capabilities of the officers and personnel involved in the operations.

The prime minister said the government would continue the fight against terrorism until the threat was eliminated.

“We will continue the war against terrorism until this menace is eliminated from the country,” he said.

He added that security forces were taking effective action against militants who sought to threaten Pakistan’s peace.

The prime minister also said the Pakistani nation stood alongside the armed forces in their efforts to protect the country.

ISPR said sanitisation operations were continuing in the areas where the latest clashes took place.

The purpose is to locate any remaining militants, check possible hideouts and remove other security threats following the main operations.

The military also linked the latest actions to the wider “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

According to ISPR, the counterterrorism campaign will continue “at full pace” against what it described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.

The latest operations come amid continued security challenges in both KP and Balochistan. Both provinces have experienced militant attacks in recent years, making intelligence-based operations an important part of Pakistan’s security strategy.

The military regularly conducts such operations based on intelligence gathered by security and law-enforcement agencies. Their stated objective is to identify militant positions before attacks can take place.
