LAHORE (Web Desk): Lahore Traffic Police has issued a special traffic plan ahead of Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest rallies, with diversions planned in Mazang and nearby areas.

Traffic diversions announced for JI protest

According to officials, protest participants are expected to reach Mazang and Qurtaba Chowk after 4:00 pm, which may increase traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

The traffic police will implement phased diversions from 4:00 pm until sunset in Hamdard Chowk, Mazang, Qurtaba Chowk and nearby localities. Officials said the arrangements have been made to minimise inconvenience for commuters and ensure better traffic management during the protest activities.

Alternative routes suggested for motorists

Traffic authorities have advised citizens to avoid roads that are expected to face congestion during the demonstrations. Motorists travelling from Jain Mandir Lower Mall towards Ichhra have been advised to avoid Lytton Road due to expected traffic pressure.

The traffic police have suggested alternative routes, including Mall Road, Lawrence Road and Shadman, to help commuters reach their destinations without major delays. Officials urged drivers to follow traffic instructions and use alternative routes wherever possible during the protest hours.

CTO urges citizens to avoid unnecessary travel

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel towards Mazang and Qurtaba Chowk during the protest period. He said commuters should check the latest traffic situation before leaving for their destinations.

The CTO advised citizens to get updates through the 15 helpline and Rasta FM to remain informed about changing road conditions. He said public cooperation would help traffic officials manage the situation effectively.

More than 100 traffic officials are deployed

To handle the expected increase in traffic pressure, Lahore Traffic Police has deployed additional personnel in affected areas. According to officials, three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and more than 100 traffic wardens have been assigned duties.

The deployed staff will monitor traffic movement, guide motorists, and implement diversion plans whenever required. Authorities said vehicles may be diverted to alternative routes if traffic congestion increases during the protest.

Police prepare for possible traffic disruption

The traffic plan has been prepared as authorities expect increased movement of protest participants in central Lahore. Officials said the main objective is to maintain traffic flow while allowing protest activities to continue.

Traffic wardens have been directed to remain present at important points and assist citizens facing difficulties. Police have also requested motorists to avoid parking on roads near protest locations to prevent further congestion.

Public advised to follow traffic instructions

Authorities have asked citizens to cooperate with traffic officials and follow the announced guidelines. Commuters travelling through Mazang, Qurtaba Chowk and nearby areas may face delays during the protest hours.

Residents have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. The traffic police said further changes may be made depending on the situation on the roads.
