Major Karachi roads to witness sit-ins
In Karachi, JI has announced protest caravans from several major areas of the city.
Munim Zafar said the rallies will begin at 4:00 pm from locations including Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Hub Road, National Highway, and Super Highway. Additional protest caravans will also depart from Orangi, Korangi, Pakistan Chowk, and Sher Shah.
The protest caravans will later gather at Mazar-e-Quaid, from where a large demonstration will move towards Shahrah-e-Faisal. The party has urged participants to remain peaceful during the demonstrations.
Emergency services to get road access
The JI Karachi chief said roads will remain closed during the protests as part of the demonstration plan. However, he assured that emergency services, including ambulances, will be allowed access through affected routes.
The party said arrangements will be made to minimise difficulties for people requiring urgent medical assistance. Authorities are expected to monitor traffic conditions and manage movement in areas where protests are scheduled.
Protests planned in major cities
The demonstrations are not limited to Karachi, as JI has announced protests in several major cities across Pakistan. The protest campaign is expected to take place in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar, along with other areas.
According to Munim Zafar, the purpose of the protests is to pressure the government over economic issues affecting ordinary citizens. He said people are facing difficulties due to rising prices and additional financial burdens.
JI demands the withdrawal of the petroleum levy
Munim Zafar said the protest movement will continue until the petroleum levy is withdrawn. He criticised additional charges on fuel and linked them to the increasing cost of living.
