How to apply for Punjab’s interest-free Rs1 million housing loan
The Punjab government has urged citizens to take advantage of its interest-free housing loan schemes aimed at helping families repair, expand, strengthen or build their homes without the burden of borrowing costs.
According to an official statement, the initiative is being offered under two separate programs. Through the “Apni Chhat, Mehfooz Chhat” scheme, eligible applicants can receive up to Rs500,000 in interest-free financing for home repairs, strengthening and expansion work. Meanwhile, the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program provides up to Rs1,000,000 in interest-free loans for the construction of new houses.
The provincial government said the schemes are designed to improve living conditions, support low- and middle-income families and encourage safer housing across Punjab.
Eligible citizens can submit their applications through the official online portal. Authorities added that applicants can also seek assistance and guidance from offices of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners located across the province.
Officials believe the program could help thousands of families complete long-delayed housing projects and improve the structural safety of their homes without facing high financing costs.
The government has encouraged residents to apply as soon as possible and benefit from the available financial support. Citizens seeking additional information about eligibility criteria, documentation requirements and the application process can contact the dedicated helpline at 0800-09100.
The housing initiative is part of broader efforts by the Punjab government to increase home ownership, improve housing infrastructure and provide affordable financing opportunities for deserving families.
