ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The government has reduced petrol and diesel prices, offering some relief to motorists as the new rates take effect.

Petrol and diesel prices reduced

The government has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan. According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, petrol has become cheaper by Rs3.19 per litre.

The price of diesel has also been reduced, with a cut of Rs1.50 per litre.

After the latest reduction, the Petrol price in Pakistan has been fixed at Rs329.82 per litre. The new diesel price is Rs382.36 per litre.

The revised rates will come into effect from August 7

For motorists checking the petrol price today, the new rate means they will now pay Rs329.82 for every litre of petrol. The latest reduction could provide some relief to people who regularly use cars and motorcycles.

Diesel levy increased

Although the government has reduced the price of diesel, it has also increased the levy on the fuel.

The diesel levy has been raised by Rs1.21 per litre, taking the total levy to Rs73.47 per litre. Meanwhile, the levy on petrol remains at Rs80 per litre.

This means people checking the diesel price today will see a lower pump price, but the increase in the levy remains an important part of the latest petroleum price decision.

What were the previous prices?

The latest announcement comes only a day after another major change in fuel prices.

Petrol had previously become more expensive by Rs4.45 per litre, while diesel was reduced by Rs2 per litre. Following that adjustment, petrol was priced at Rs333.01 per litre and diesel at Rs383.86 per litre.

With the latest decision, the Petrol price in Pakistan has fallen by Rs3.19 from the previous rate.

Consumers looking for the petrol price today will now find the rate at Rs329.82 per litre, while the diesel price today stands at Rs382.36 per litre.

What does the reduction mean?

The latest cut may bring some relief to households, transporters and daily commuters. Lower fuel prices can reduce the cost of travelling and may also help control transportation expenses.

However, the higher diesel levy could affect how much relief diesel users actually receive.

For now, the Petrol price in Pakistan and the diesel price today will remain important for motorists and businesses as they calculate their daily expenses.
