The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has announced that all employees of the local government department and related offices will work from home 100 percent every Friday as part of its fuel conservation and governance improvement plan.
According to an official notification issued by the Local Government Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this policy applies to all staff, including field formations, who will perform their duties online rather than reporting to offices on Fridays.
The policy has been initially implemented for a period of two months, with the possibility of extension after a review of its effectiveness. Authorities aim to save fuel and reduce administrative expenses, while ensuring that essential government services continue without disruption.
The notification emphasizes that all officers and employees are required to fully comply with the work-from-home directive. Supervisors have been instructed to monitor tasks closely and ensure that official work is not affected by the new arrangement.

Officials believe that this step will help conserve energy, reduce transport costs for government staff, and set an example for other departments and private organizations to follow sustainable work practices.
KP government officials have also suggested that if the pilot program proves successful, the work-from-home initiative may be extended or adapted for other weekdays. Citizens are advised that public services will continue online, and offices will remain accessible virtually for all official purposes.
