ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Four tourists killed and several injured after a passenger van catches fire on Murree Expressway near Khajot, rescue operation underway.

Four tourists lost their lives and ten others were injured when a passenger van suddenly caught fire near Khajot on the Murree Expressway on Wednesday, creating panic among travellers.

According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, a large number of police officials and Murree administration teams immediately reached the scene after receiving reports of the incident.

Rescue 1122 teams were also called and quickly launched relief and rescue operations at the site of the accident.

Officials said efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and injured passengers as emergency response teams continue their work.

 The injured passengers were given first aid on the spot before being shifted to PIMS Hospital for further medical treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire that led to this tragic incident. Rescue operations are still underway to clear the area and collect further evidence from the site.

Officials said more details will be shared once the investigation progresses and passenger identification is completed.
