The Punjab government has officially launched a modern evidence-based traffic challan system across the province to make traffic law enforcement more transparent and fair. Under the new system, every traffic challan will include supporting evidence in the form of photographs and video footage.
According to a Traffic Police spokesperson, anyone committing a traffic violation will receive an SMS from 8070. The message will include a link allowing citizens to view the photos and videos related to the violation before taking any further action.
Officials said all traffic challans across Punjab will now be issued through the Traffic Police One App with complete digital evidence. The system has been introduced on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to improve transparency, fairness, and convenience for the public.

DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazeer said the new system will help reduce unnecessary arguments between motorists and traffic police, as every challan will be supported by clear evidence. He added that the digital process will also save time for both citizens and law enforcement officers.
He further said the evidence-based system will strengthen legal action against people who fail to pay their traffic challans. The availability of digital proof is expected to make enforcement more effective and improve compliance with traffic laws.
Officials said the use of modern technology is making Traffic Police services more public-friendly and efficient. They added that prompt, transparent, and fair enforcement of traffic laws is essential for building a safer and more disciplined road network across Punjab.
