E-challan defaulters face crackdown as traffic police tighten enforcement
Lahore Traffic Police have accelerated action against e-challan defaulters across the city. During a recent operation in Green Town, officials took a commercial pickup vehicle into custody after discovering a large amount of unpaid fines.
According to traffic police, the action was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign against vehicles involved in traffic violations. Authorities say the drive aims to improve road discipline and ensure compliance with traffic laws.
Traffic Inspector Zaheer Abbas said the vehicle’s e-challan record was checked during a routine inspection. The review revealed that the owner had failed to clear several traffic fines despite repeated violations.
Officials said the commercial pickup had violated traffic signals on four separate occasions. Each violation resulted in a fine of Rs15,000, bringing the total outstanding amount to Rs60,000.
Police stated that the vehicle was impounded after the owner failed to pay the pending fines. It has been shifted to the relevant police station, where further legal action will be taken under traffic regulations.

Lahore Traffic Police said ANPR cameras are being used across the city to detect and record more than 20 types of traffic violations. Officials added that efforts are being strengthened to identify and act against vehicles with unpaid e-challans.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi urged citizens to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly. He also advised motorists to pay their e-challans on time to avoid legal action and unnecessary complications.
The latest operation shows that authorities are becoming stricter with repeat traffic offenders. More actions against e-challan defaulters could encourage drivers to follow rules and clear pending fines on time.
