Cash brought for salary payments

Saad Edhi, a member of the Edhi Foundation and grandson of its founder, Abdul Sattar Edhi, said staff members had arrived at the centre with the cash shortly before the robbery. He said the money had been withdrawn from a bank to distribute salaries to the organisation’s volunteers.

According to Saad Edhi, four armed men entered the centre soon afterwards and took the cash. He raised concerns over the apparent knowledge of the suspects about the movement and location of the money.

“The men came, and they knew exactly who had the money, where it was kept, and what the situation was,” Edhi told the media. He said the Sohrab Goth centre is a large facility, and the suspects appeared to know exactly where they needed to go.

CCTV footage becomes key evidence

The Edhi Foundation has shared CCTV footage related to the incident.

The footage reportedly shows three men with their faces covered and guns in their hands inside the centre. The footage is expected to be examined by investigators as they work to identify the suspects and determine how they entered the facility.

Police are also expected to examine the suspects’ movements before and after the robbery. The CCTV recordings could provide important clues about the identities of those involved and their possible escape route.

Police launch investigation

Police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are collecting evidence from the scene.

Sindh home minister takes notice

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the robbery and sought a detailed report from the Additional Inspector General of Karachi.

Lanjar directed police to use modern investigative methods and CCTV footage to trace the suspects. He also ordered efforts to ensure the early recovery of the stolen money.
