The Pakistan Engineering Council has announced major progress in its Graduate Engineer Trainee Program 2026, confirming that thousands of young engineers have been shortlisted for training opportunities that include a monthly stipend of Rs50,000.
According to official details, the program aims to enhance engineering skills development in Pakistan by providing practical industrial training to fresh graduates across the country.
3,982 Engineers Shortlisted for Training Program
Officials stated that a total of 5,300 applicants applied online for the second batch of the program. After a detailed screening process, 3,982 candidates were shortlisted for final selection.
A transparent digital draw was then conducted, resulting in the selection of 1,700 graduate engineers for six months of professional training under the initiative.
50,000 Monthly Stipend for Selected Engineers
Chairman PEC Waseem Nazir announced that each selected trainee will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 during the training period.
He said the initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements, helping young engineers gain hands-on experience in real-world environments.

Quota System and Regional Representation
Officials confirmed that 300 seats were reserved specifically for graduates from Balochistan, all of which have been filled successfully.
The remaining 1,400 candidates were selected from other provinces and federal regions, ensuring balanced regional representation in the program.
Industry Partnerships to Boost Employment Skills
The PEC has partnered with both public and private sector organizations across Pakistan to provide structured training placements.
The goal is to strengthen technical workforce development, improve employability, and support industrial growth through skilled human resources.
Transparency Through Digital Selection Process
Officials highlighted that the entire selection process was conducted through a fully transparent digital lottery system, ensuring fairness and merit-based opportunity for all applicants.
The initiative is being seen as a major step toward improving engineering education-to-industry transition in Pakistan.
