(Web Desk): Pakistan introduces Social Protection Wallets under BISP to ensure transparent, direct and dignified cash transfers to women.

The Government of Pakistan has launched a new, transparent and secure payment system under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), aimed at making cash assistance safer and more dignified for women beneficiaries.

Speaking at an event held at Bloch Hall, Lyari, BISP Chairperson and Senator Rubina Khalid said the new system is called Social Protection Wallets. She explained that the initiative is designed to ensure women receive their full payments directly, without interference or deductions.

Under this system, BISP is providing free SIM cards to registered women beneficiaries. These SIMs will allow payments to be transferred straight into digital wallets, reducing dependence on middlemen and eliminating chances of fraud or exploitation.

Senator Rubina Khalid stressed that women must bring their own mobile phones to access the new payment mechanism. She said the move will empower women financially and give them full control over their assistance in a respectful manner.

During her meeting with Senator Yousaf Baloch and other notable figures, the BISP chairperson highlighted that transparency and security are the core goals of this reform. She added that strict monitoring measures are in place to protect beneficiaries.

She also issued a clear warning, advising women to immediately file complaints if anyone demands extra money in exchange for releasing payments. According to her, no deductions are allowed under BISP, and legal action will be taken against violators.

The introduction of Social Protection Wallets marks a major step toward digital financial inclusion and reflects the government’s commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable women across Pakistan.
