PPP takes lead in Gilgit-Baltistan elections as results pour in

(Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as the leading party in initial Gilgit-Baltistan election results, securing 9 seats out of 19 declared so far.

Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections have produced early results showing a strong lead for the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), as vote counting continues across multiple constituencies in the region.

According to official and partial results, out of 24 seats, 19 have been declared so far. PPP has secured 9 seats, emerging as the leading political force in the ongoing results tally. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has won 3 seats, while independent candidates have secured 6 seats. One seat has gone to the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

The Election Commission has begun issuing official notifications for successful candidates across various constituencies.

Key constituency results

In GB-1 Gilgit-I, PPP candidate Amjad Advocate secured victory with 10,594 votes, defeating PML-N’s Shafique-ud-Din who received 6,316 votes.

In GB-2 Gilgit-II (unofficial result), PML-N’s Hafeez-ur-Rehman won with 11,204 votes, while PPP’s Jameel Ahmed came second.

In GB-3 Gilgit-III, independent candidate Sohail Abbas won with 7,853 votes, narrowly defeating PPP’s Aftab Haider.

In GB-4 Nagar-I, PPP’s Muhammad Ali Akhtar secured victory with 7,654 votes.

 

 

In GB-6 Hunza, independent candidate Nek Nam Karim won the seat with 6,390 votes.

In GB-7 Skardu-I, PPP’s Taqeer Mehdi Shah emerged victorious, while in GB-8 Skardu-II, MWM’s Kazim Meesam secured a strong win.

PPP also won GB-11 Kharmang and GB-12 Shigar, further strengthening its position in the region.

Meanwhile, PML-N secured wins in GB-18 Diamer-IV and GB-20 Ghizer-II, while an independent candidate won GB-23 Ghanche-II.

The election results are still being finalized, and the political picture may evolve as remaining constituencies are officially announced.
