Punjab expands 1122 emergency service to more cities and towns
Punjab government has announced a major expansion of the Emergency Rescue Service 1122, extending its network to several additional cities, towns, and rural areas across the province in a move aimed at improving emergency response times and public safety coverage.
According to details, new service points have been added in multiple districts including Hafizabad, Murree, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, and Nankana Sahib. The expansion also covers Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Chiniot, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Layyah.
Officials said the initiative includes the establishment or upgrading of emergency response units in key towns such as Kotla Arab Ali Khan, Mureed Wala, Satiana, Ali Pur Chatha, Farooqabad, Kamoke surrounding areas, and several other semi-urban and rural localities. In Lahore, additional coverage has been extended to areas including Barki Road, Nishter Town, and Gulberg surroundings.
The expansion is part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to strengthen disaster response, reduce emergency response time, and ensure that life-saving services are accessible even in remote areas. Authorities believe that the wider network will significantly improve rescue operations during accidents, natural disasters, and medical emergencies.
Officials added that trained staff and ambulances will be deployed in the newly included areas, while coordination with district administrations will be strengthened to ensure rapid response.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of residents who previously had to rely on distant emergency centers. Public awareness campaigns will also be launched to inform citizens about the availability and usage of the expanded 1122 service network.
