Pakistan joins crucial diplomatic talks
The PM Shehbaz Switzerland visit marks another important step in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Field Marshal Asim Munir, travelled to Bürgenstock with a high-level delegation to participate in the first technical-level meeting following the signing of the Islamabad MoU.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Foreign Office, the Iran-US talks Switzerland are focused on implementing the understandings reached between Tehran and Washington.
Pakistan said its continued role reflects its balanced approach toward regional peace and stability. The PM Shehbaz Switzerland visit also highlights Islamabad’s commitment to supporting dialogue instead of conflict.
Talks focus on implementing the agreement
Officials said the Islamabad MoU serves as the foundation for the current negotiations.
The Pakistan mediation Iran US initiative has already included several rounds of diplomatic engagement that helped both countries reach the US Iran agreement earlier this month.
The Iran-US talks Switzerland are expected to discuss technical steps for implementing the agreement, including issues related to regional security and confidence-building measures.
Pakistan believes the US Iran agreement can create opportunities for long-term peace if all parties continue constructive engagement.

PM expected to hold bilateral meetings
On the sidelines of the conference, PM Shehbaz Switzerland visit will include separate meetings with delegations from Iran, Qatar, Switzerland and the United States.
These discussions are expected to strengthen the Pakistan mediation Iran US process and reaffirm Islamabad’s support for diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Field Marshal Asim Munir is also participating in the discussions as part of Pakistan’s delegation.
Officials say his presence reflects the country's unified civil-military approach to regional peace efforts. The Islamabad MoU remains central to these diplomatic engagements.
International leaders arrive in Switzerland
US Vice President JD Vance has also reached Switzerland to lead the American delegation, while Iran’s delegation is headed by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
The Iran-US talks Switzerland were delayed due to renewed tensions in Lebanon but have now resumed with hopes of preserving momentum toward peace.
