JD Vance warns Israeli minister against attacking Trump
US Vice President JD Vance has publicly criticised members of the Israeli cabinet over recent personal remarks directed at President Donald Trump, saying such comments could damage relations between the two close allies.
Speaking to reporters, Vance stressed that Trump remains one of Israel’s strongest international supporters at a time of growing regional tensions and diplomatic challenges.
“Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, and he happens to be the head of state of the world superpower,” Vance said.
He warned Israeli officials against targeting the US president, arguing that Washington remains Israel’s most important strategic partner.
“If I were in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world,” he added.
Vance also highlighted the extent of American military support for Israel, noting that a large share of the country's defensive systems had been supplied and financed by the United States.
“Over the last three months, two-thirds of the defensive weapons that have protected your homeland have been built by American hands and paid for by American tax dollars,” he said.
The vice president argued that Israeli leaders should focus on broader security concerns rather than criticising Trump.
“The problem for Israel is not Donald J. Trump,” Vance said, urging those who disagree to “wake up and smell the reality” of the current geopolitical situation.
His remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and renewed debate over the future of US-Israel relations.
