Maryam Nawaz launched the major welfare program to help low-income families manage expensive electricity bills. Under the Maryam Nawaz solar panel scheme, about 50,000 solar panels will be distributed to deserving households across Punjab free of cost. The project aims to support poor families by providing a clean and affordable source of energy.
Officials said the solar panels will be given without any interest or payment. Families who meet the eligibility criteria will receive the solar systems after completing the registration process. The government hopes this step will help many households produce their own electricity through sunlight.

At present, registration for the Maryam Nawaz solar panel scheme is not available online. People who want to apply must visit a nearby Punjab Bank branch and complete the process there. Bank staff will guide applicants and register their details for the scheme. After verification, selected families will be provided with solar panels.
Eligibility criteria for the solar panel scheme
To qualify for the Maryam Nawaz solar panel scheme, applicants must meet certain conditions. The applicant must be a resident of Punjab and should not have any business abroad. Families already receiving assistance under government welfare programs can also apply.
The total monthly income of the household must not exceed Rs50,000. The poverty score should be up to 32%. Another condition is that the monthly electricity consumption of the household should not exceed 100 units.
Benefits of the solar panel scheme
Families selected under the Maryam Nawaz solar panel scheme will receive solar equipment to generate electricity at home. The government will provide two solar frames for each valid identity card holder in the household. With these panels, families can light their homes and run basic appliances using solar energy.
Because the program aims to bring light to homes through solar power, it is also known as the Roshan Gharana scheme. The initiative is expected to reduce electricity expenses and promote renewable energy in Punjab.

Many people across Punjab have already shown interest in the scheme. Residents are visiting Punjab Bank branches to complete their registration and increase their chances of receiving solar panels.
Authorities have encouraged eligible families to register quickly so they can benefit from the program and use sunlight to power their homes.
This program may help poor families manage high electricity costs. Solar energy can give households a cheaper power option. It may also support the shift toward clean energy in Punjab.
