(Web Desk): Nine fake NADRA websites have been exposed and shut down after a cyber alert warned that criminals were using them to steal citizens’ personal data.

Pakistan’s cyber security authorities have issued a warning after discovering several fraudulent websites pretending to offer official services of the National Database and Registration Authority.

According to officials from National Cyber Emergency Response Team, the suspicious websites were identified during a joint cyber security operation conducted between February and March 2026.

Authorities said these fake websites were designed to look like official government portals. Their main purpose was to trick people into sharing sensitive information such as CNIC numbers, passport details, and contact information.

Cyber experts explained that criminals often create such phishing websites by copying the design and layout of official platforms. Unsuspecting users may believe they are visiting a genuine service and unknowingly provide personal or financial information.

Authorities have strongly advised citizens to remain cautious while using online government services. People should carefully check website addresses before entering any personal data.

Officials also warned users not to click on suspicious links sent through email, SMS, or social media messages. These links often lead to phishing websites designed to steal personal information.

The cyber security team said it continues to monitor the internet and take quick action against fake platforms targeting Pakistani citizens.

Officials emphasized that all legitimate services of National Database and Registration Authority are available only through its official website and verified government portals.
