The registration process for manufacturers and traders has now been extended until February 8, instead of the earlier deadline of January 31.
According to the district administration spokesperson, the main goal of the extension is to maintain price balance in the market and prevent unnecessary inflation.
Authorities said only registered traders and manufacturers will be allowed to sell kites and threads. This ensures better monitoring of quality, price, and safety measures during the festival.
Sources added that after allowing kite and thread imports from other cities and provinces under SOPs, the extension encourages more traders and manufacturers to register legally. This will increase supply and keep prices under control.

The administration warned that production, transportation, or sale of unregistered kites and threads will not be allowed. Violators will face strict action. Continuous market monitoring will also ensure public safety and peace during Basant.
Citizens welcomed the decision, expressing hope that kite and thread prices will remain fair and illegal profiteering will be curbed during the festival.
The extension shows authorities are serious about controlling prices. Only registered sellers can operate, ensuring safety and quality. Market supply will increase, preventing sudden price hikes. Citizens can enjoy Basant without worrying about unfair costs.
