The JUI-F chief visited Darul Uloom Haqqania after terrorists had attacked the seminary in which Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUIS) leader Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and others had embraced martyrdom. Engr Ziaur Rehman, Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro, Qari Muhammad Usman, Maulana Attaul Haq Darvesh and other central, provincial, and district leaders accompanied Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

“Terrorists are deliberately targeting scholars in mosques as part of a well-planned conspiracy. The attack on Maulana Hamidul Haq is equivalent to an attack on my home and my madrasa; it is an attack on my alma mater,” he said, adding that a religious scholar was recently murdered during prayers in Balochistan.

Terming terrorists Jahil-e-Mutliq  or completely ignorant, Fazl said, “We will neither retreat from our ideology nor abandon the methodology established by our predecessors. Islam and madrassas are centres of peace, education, and security.”

He said that authorities abandoned a planned operation against Darul Uloom Haqqania after he warned them of serious consequences.

“I had received information about an operation being planned against Darul Uloom Haqqania. I then met with officials and discussed the matter and warned them that if such an operation was carried out, it would have serious consequences,” he said while speaking to reporters after offering condolences at Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak.

Fazl said that he had returned from Makkah and Madina the previous night, and the martyrdom of Maulana Hamidul Haq and others had deeply saddened everyone. He said that Darul Uloom Haqqania was his alma mater, and its honour and dignity would not be compromised.

He condemned the targeting of an innocent person like Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani inside a mosque, calling it an act of brutality. He said that such heinous acts cannot weaken their resolve. These attacks have been consistently targeting prominent scholars, but he reassured that their mission would continue uninterrupted.
