ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Former prime minister and disgruntled PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has openly come forward to solve the country’s problems, and hinted at forming a new political party in coming two months.

Talking to Suno News anchorperson Rana Mubashar, the former prime minister said that the country needed a new political initiative. “We are preparing to bring this idea. Our idea is to have a new political party.”

To a question regarding public support, he said that “when you come and launch a new political party, you will definitely get support from the people.”

“Today, the world is thinking 10 years, 20 years, 30 years ahead. Pakistan is always looking backwards.”

He maintained that the country’s political parties were playing a blame game, saying “Mian Sahib says Imran Khan did it, Imran Khan says Mian Sahib did it.”

Before the general elections, the veteran politician had asserted that he would not contest the general elections, terming the February 8 general polls ‘pointless’. “I would not contest upcoming polls, but can join new party after the general elections,” he had said.

Khaqan had previously stepped down from his role as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and did not attend party’s meetings related to election tickets chaired by PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. He also skipped Nawaz’s homecoming rally in October 2023.
