A two-member LHC bench, headed by Justice Aalia Neelum heard the post-arrest bail plea of former MNA Aliya Hamza in the Jinnah House arson case.
Petitioner’s lawyer Farooq Bajwa told the court that investigations into the Jinnah House arson case have been completed.
He told the court that the police nominated Aliya Hamza in the case despite not being involved, adding that the trial court dismissed the bail plea neglecting the facts.
On July 29, an Islamabad court granted bail to PTI social media activist Arooba Komal.
Judicial Magistrate Shabbir Bhatti ordered that the bail will be effective after submission of surety bonds worth Rs50,000.
The court granted bail in a case, filed under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), in which PTI spokesman Raoof Hasan and other workers are also accused.
Arooba was arrested and subsequently sent to jail on judicial remand by Duty Judge Mureed Abbas.
Komal was represented by Advocate Sardar Masroof who appeared before the court, and argued that two other women associated with the case had already been granted bail. He argued that Komal was not even named in the first information report (FIR).
The case was registered against Raoof Hasan and others under the PECA. The court granted Raoof Hasan s two-day physical remand against the FIA s request for eight days.
