Pakistan rejects Taliban claims over Badakhshan clashes as false
Pakistan has strongly rejected allegations made by Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid about the presence of Pakistan Army personnel during recent clashes in Badakhshan.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting described the statement as misleading and fabricated in an official fact-check.
According to the ministry, Mujahid made the claim during an interview with Afghan media outlet Aamaj News.
The ministry said there was no basis for the allegation that Pakistan Army personnel were involved in the armed clashes.
Pakistan rejects allegations over Badakhshan violence
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said available independent reports indicate that the fighting in Badakhshan is linked to an internal armed struggle in Afghanistan.
The ministry maintained that the violence reflects Afghanistan’s own security and administrative problems.
It rejected the attempt to link the clashes directly to Pakistan and said Islamabad has consistently supported peace and stability in neighbouring Afghanistan.
Pakistan also said it has no interest in destabilising Afghanistan.
The government’s response comes amid continued tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban authorities over security and political issues.
Islamabad accuses Taliban of spreading propaganda
The ministry accused the Afghan Taliban regime of using anti-Pakistan propaganda to shift attention away from problems within Afghanistan.
It said the Taliban authorities should focus on the challenges resulting from their governance rather than making allegations against Pakistan.
According to the ministry, the claims are part of an attempt to give an external dimension to violence that is taking place inside Afghanistan.
The government also argued that growing armed clashes and internal resistance are creating pressure on the Taliban authorities.
Islamabad said such developments should be understood in the context of Afghanistan’s internal situation rather than being attributed to Pakistan without evidence.

What Pakistan says about Afghanistan’s situation
Pakistan’s official position is that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is in the country’s own interest.
The two countries share a long border and have close economic, social and security links.
Any major instability inside Afghanistan can therefore have wider consequences for the region, particularly in areas connected to border security and cross-border movement.
Pakistan has repeatedly called for stability in Afghanistan while also raising concerns about security threats emerging from Afghan territory.
The latest statement adds to the ongoing exchange of accusations between Islamabad and the Afghan Taliban authorities.
Claims remain disputed
The Taliban spokesperson’s allegation and Pakistan’s response represent sharply different accounts of the Badakhshan clashes.
The Pakistani ministry has described the claim about Pakistan Army involvement as false and unsupported.
It has instead presented the violence as an internal Afghan conflict connected to security and administrative challenges.
The ministry said the Taliban authorities are attempting to portray the clashes as having an outside source.
However, the competing claims underline the wider mistrust between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime.
Further independent evidence would be needed to establish the circumstances surrounding the clashes and determine whether any outside actors were involved.
