Ireland offers new job opportunities for Pakistanis – Are you eligible?
The route could help experienced professionals build careers in Ireland’s accounting and financial services sector. The opportunity is mainly relevant to members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). Applicants are generally expected to have at least three years of relevant audit experience.
Experience and job offer requirements
Experience in international accounting and auditing can strengthen an application, while knowledge of US GAAP, global audit procedures and financial services may also be useful. However, applicants must first secure a job offer from an eligible employer in Ireland.
The employment contract must normally cover at least two years. For eligible Critical Skills occupations, the stated minimum annual salary is €40,904, while recent graduates may qualify under a lower threshold of €36,848.
Permit rules and application process
The Irish employer generally needs to meet a workforce condition requiring at least half of its employees to be citizens of the European Economic Area. Certain start-ups supported by Enterprise Ireland or IDA Ireland may be exempt from this requirement.
Applicants for the relevant permit do not need to complete a Labour Market Needs Test. Applications must be submitted online at least 12 weeks before the planned employment start date, while the processing fee is €1,000.
Family and long-term benefits
Eligible workers may have options to bring family members to Ireland, depending on their immigration status and applicable rules. Workers may also be able to change employers after completing nine months, subject to the relevant conditions.
Over time, qualifying workers may become eligible for Stamp 4 status and potentially long-term residence. Irish citizenship may also become possible later if all legal requirements are met.
The opportunity could be useful for Pakistani chartered accountants seeking international experience and a longer-term career abroad. However, getting a suitable job offer and meeting the salary, qualification and permit conditions remain essential.
