The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has taken an important decision regarding the schedule of the 2026 annual matriculation examinations in view of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to reports, the board has recommended that the matric exams should begin from March 27, after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. However, the final dates will be officially announced only after approval from the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen (PBCC).
Board officials said the new proposal has been prepared keeping in mind the convenience of students and teachers so that candidates do not face difficulties while appearing in exams during Ramadan. They added that starting exams after Eid would provide students with additional time to complete their syllabus and revise their courses effectively.

Meanwhile, students expressed mixed reactions to the proposed schedule. Some students argued that exams should start from March 1, with only a one-week break on Eid-ul-Fitr, saying this would help avoid unnecessary delays and make it easier to complete the examination process on time.
Students also raised concerns over the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which is set to begin on March 23. They feared that the tournament could further disrupt the exam schedule and urged the board to consider this factor carefully while finalising dates.

Following the recommendation, many students have already started adjusting their study plans in anticipation of the board’s final decision.
