New details have emerged regarding the attempted suicide of a female student at a private university in Lahore, an incident that has remained a hot topic on social media for several days.
The incident took place at the University of Lahore, where a female student jumped from the second floor of an academic building. Fortunately, she survived due to timely medical assistance and was rushed to Lahore General Hospital, where doctors say her condition is now stable and out of danger.
The student has been identified as Fatima Hussain, a D-Pharmacy student at the university. Initial investigations revealed that she had been under severe mental stress after her family refused to allow her to marry a person of her choice.

According to sources, Fatima wanted to marry a close friend, but her family strongly opposed the proposal and was pressuring her to marry someone else. The disagreement reportedly led to heated arguments at home, leaving the student emotionally distressed.
Investigators said the continuous pressure and family conflict deeply affected Fatima, pushing her into emotional turmoil. Following the dispute, she went to university and took the extreme step by jumping from the second floor of the building.
Immediately after the incident, the university administration and fellow students shifted the injured student to Lahore General Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed that Fatima sustained fractures in both legs, for which surgeries have already been performed.

Doctors stated that her condition is satisfactory and she is gradually recovering. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked renewed debate on social media about mental health awareness, family pressure, and the lack of counseling support for students facing emotional crises.
