Summer holidays extended as schools reopening delayed
Thousands of students enjoying their summer vacations have received welcome news after the Telangana government announced a delay in the reopening of schools across the state.
According to an official notification, all government and private schools were originally scheduled to reopen on June 12 following the summer break. However, authorities have now postponed the reopening date to June 15 due to administrative reasons and a series of consecutive holidays.
Officials explained that June 13 falls on the second Saturday of the month, which is a regular holiday for many schools, while June 14 is a Sunday. Considering these back-to-back holidays, the government decided that reopening schools on June 12 would not be practical and instead moved the date to June 15.
The Education Department said steps have also been taken to ensure that the academic calendar remains balanced. To compensate for the holiday adjustment, July 11, which would normally be the second Saturday holiday, has been declared a working day. Schools will remain open on that day and regular classes will be conducted.
Education experts believe the decision will benefit students by giving them additional time to rest during the peak summer season. They also noted that parents will have more time to prepare their children for the upcoming academic session.
The announcement has been warmly welcomed by students, many of whom expressed excitement over the extension of their vacations. Social media platforms were quickly flooded with positive reactions, with users praising the government’s decision.
The revised schedule is expected to ease the transition into the new academic year while ensuring that teaching days are maintained through calendar adjustments.
