PMDC announces new MDCAT 2026 exam date

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially postponed the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 following the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement issued by PMDC, the entrance examination, which was originally scheduled for August 16, will now be held on September 20, 2026.

The council said the decision was taken to make the examination process more organized, secure, transparent and convenient for thousands of students preparing to seek admission to medical and dental colleges across Pakistan.

Officials believe the additional time will help improve examination arrangements and ensure that all candidates receive a fair opportunity to appear in a well-managed testing environment.

Why was the MDCAT date changed?

PMDC explained that the revised examination schedule aims to strengthen the overall management of the admission test and improve the experience for candidates.

The council said its priority is to examine transparently and securely while maintaining high academic standards throughout the process.

Authorities added that postponing the test would allow more time to complete all necessary administrative and technical preparations before the nationwide examination takes place.

The revised schedule follows the Prime Minister’s directive and reflects the government's efforts to ensure that the admission process remains smooth and reliable for all students.

Other examination rules remain unchanged

PMDC clarified that only the examination date has changed. All other conditions, eligibility requirements, examination rules and administrative arrangements will remain exactly the same.

Candidates who have already completed their registration do not need to submit fresh applications because their existing registration will remain valid for the new examination date.

The council also stated that if any additional changes become necessary in the future, they will be announced separately through official notifications.

Students have been advised not to rely on unofficial social media posts or rumors regarding the examination schedule.

PMDC advises students to follow official updates

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has requested all candidates, parents, educational institutions and other stakeholders to remain connected with its official communication channels.

Students are encouraged to regularly visit the PMDC website and monitor official announcements for the latest updates regarding the examination, admit cards and other important instructions.

Officials stressed that accurate information will only be shared through official sources to avoid confusion among applicants.

The council also thanked students, parents and educational institutions for their cooperation during the revision of the examination schedule.

Students get more preparation time

The postponement provides medical college applicants with additional weeks to continue preparing for one of Pakistan’s most competitive entrance examinations.

Education experts believe that the extra preparation time may help many students strengthen their understanding of important subjects before appearing in the test.

However, they also advise candidates to maintain a disciplined study routine instead of delaying their preparation because the examination date has been extended.

With the new schedule now confirmed, students can organize their revision plans according to the updated timeline announced by PMDC.
