Cambridge International Education has revised its earlier decision regarding the leaked A Level Mathematics paper in Pakistan, confirming that students' results will now be based on their original exam answers instead of estimated grades.

The decision follows an investigation into the A Level Mathematics (9709 Paper 52) leak. Cambridge said its findings showed that access to the leaked paper was limited and did not significantly affect the overall examination results in Pakistan.

A Level Maths students to receive grades based on original papers

According to Cambridge, Pakistani candidates who appeared in A Level Mathematics (9709 Paper 52) will receive grades based on the answers they wrote in the actual examination.

Students affected by the paper leak will also be offered an opportunity to retake the exam in November 2026 without paying any additional examination fee.

After completing the free retake, candidates will be allowed to choose whichever result is better—their original grade or the new one.

Computer Science results to remain on estimated grades

Cambridge said the decision for AS Level Computer Science remains unchanged because investigators found that the examination paper had been widely circulated before the test.

As a result, Computer Science candidates will receive results based on estimated grades, a system Cambridge said is designed to protect honest students and prevent those who benefited from leaked papers from gaining an unfair advantage.

The examination board added that its estimated grading system is based on established research and is widely recognised by universities around the world.

Cambridge also noted that fake leaked papers shared on social media caused unnecessary confusion and anxiety among students, parents and educational institutions during the examination period.
