A total of 187 government high schools in Lahore have failed to achieve their prescribed student enrollment targets despite an ongoing enrollment campaign, prompting the education authorities to seek explanations from school heads.

The District Education Authority Lahore has directed the heads of the schools with low enrollment to complete their targets by 3pm on September 1. Officials have also warned that failure to meet the targets within the given deadline could lead to disciplinary action.

Several Schools Report Major Shortfalls

Available details show significant enrollment gaps at several schools. Government High School Wasanpura is short of 232 female students, while Government Girls High School Ghaziabad has 206 fewer students than its target.

Government Girls Model High School Wahdat Colony is 201 students short, followed by Government High School Mominpura Ravi Road with a gap of 162 students. Government Girls High School Mahdia Data Nagar is also 160 students below its target.

Other schools facing shortfalls include Government Girls High School Sanda Kalan with 155 students, Government Girls Township with 151, and Government APS Girls Model Town with 149.

School Heads Raise NADRA Issue

School heads have argued that some student registrations are rejected by NADRA when the records are found to be invalid. They said schools cannot create fake admissions simply to complete official enrollment figures.

PEDА Action Threatened

Despite the explanation, the education authority has made it clear that schools must meet their prescribed targets within the deadline.

Officials warned that school heads who fail to achieve the required enrollment could face proceedings under the PEEDA Act, increasing pressure on schools to improve their admission figures.
