9th Class results shock as over 753,000 students fail across Punjab
More than half of students fail
The Punjab ninth-grade results have raised serious concerns after more than half of the students failed their examinations. A total of 753,813 students failed out of 1,395,475 candidates who appeared across all educational boards in the province.
The figures show a major gap between the number of students taking the exams and those successfully passing them. The results have also raised questions about students’ preparation, teaching quality and the examination system.
Lahore Board reports highest failures
The Lahore Board recorded the highest number of failures among all Punjab boards. Out of 280,676 students who appeared, 150,133 failed the ninth-grade examinations.
The Gujranwala Board had 249,252 students appear for the exams, with 133,286 failing. Faisalabad Board recorded 95,948 failures among 196,656 students.
Other boards also report high failure rates
The Rawalpindi Board had 121,739 students take the exams, while 76,015 failed. In Multan, 67,374 students failed out of 140,675 candidates.
Bahawalpur Board recorded 64,990 failures from 105,601 students. Sargodha Board reported 61,857 failures among 107,782 candidates, while 54,920 out of 106,001 students failed in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Sahiwal results raise further questions
In Sahiwal, 87,093 students appeared for the ninth-grade exams and 49,290 failed. In terms of the number of failed students, Lahore was followed by Gujranwala and Faisalabad.
The large number of failures has raised questions about the quality of education and students’ academic preparation. It may also encourage education authorities to review teaching methods and the examination system.
The results show that many students are struggling at an important stage of their education. The high failure rate needs a closer look to find out whether the main problems are weak preparation, teaching methods or examination standards.
Better academic support could help students improve before they reach higher classes. Education authorities may also need to study board-wise performance and identify areas that require immediate attention.
