An Indian Army soldier, identified as Ajit Singh, has been arrested in Jharkhand for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on a train. Reports indicate that the victim was waiting for a train when the incident occurred. The soldier is accused of dragging her into a compartment and committing the assault.
Arrest and investigation
Ajit Singh, reportedly serving with the 42 Medium Regiment in Punjab, has been taken into police custody. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the case to ensure justice for the victim.
Other military-related criminal cases
This arrest is part of a series of serious incidents involving current and former members of the Indian armed forces. In a separate case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma and Vinod Kumar over an alleged bribery scheme. Lt Col Sharma serves in the Ministry of Defense, and a corruption case has also been registered against his wife, Colonel Kajal.

Meanwhile, a former soldier, Rajbir Singh, was arrested near the Nepal border on charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of explosives. Officials reportedly recovered about 500 grams of heroin and a grenade from him. His associate, Chirag, had earlier been detained with 400 grams of heroin and a pistol. Authorities believe the duo were running a narcotics smuggling network in the border area.
