(Web Desk): The third round of US–Iran nuclear talks begins in Geneva as Iran submits a new proposal through Oman.

The third round of US–Iran nuclear talks begins today in Geneva, with Iran submitting a fresh proposal through Oman ahead of the negotiations.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Geneva leading a high-level delegation for the new phase of discussions on Tehran’s nuclear program. According to Iranian media, Araghchi handed over Iran’s proposed framework for a potential agreement to Oman’s foreign minister, outlining Tehran’s stance on sanctions relief and its atomic activities.

Preparatory meetings were held with his Omani counterpart to finalize arrangements for the talks. Oman has been playing a mediatory role between the two sides as indirect negotiations continue.

The discussions will include US representative Steve Witkoff, while Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US president Donald Trump, is also expected to be present. The negotiations are set to proceed indirectly, with mediators conveying messages between Washington and Tehran.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Iran has long posed a serious threat to the United States and accused Tehran of refusing to negotiate over its ballistic missile program. However, he stressed that Washington prefers a diplomatic solution, adding that President Trump wants the dispute resolved through dialogue rather than confrontation.

The talks come at a time of heightened regional tensions and growing international concern over Iran’s expanding nuclear activities. Both sides are seeking a potential breakthrough, though significant differences remain over sanctions, missile capabilities and verification mechanisms.
